The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education designed for students aged 16–19 (Grades 11 and 12). It prepares students for success at university and in life beyond, encouraging them to learn how to learn, analyze critically, and apply knowledge to complex global issues.

What is the IB Diploma Programme (DP)?

The DP provides a rigorous and balanced programme of education that encourages students to become knowledgeable, critical and reflective thinkers. It emphasizes intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections across academic disciplines and apply their learning to real-world and global contexts. It fosters the development of research, communication, intercultural understanding and global engagement—essential qualities for young people preparing for university and responsible global citizenship.

The DP is designed to accommodate a wide range of educational backgrounds and interests. It builds upon the knowledge, skills and attitudes developed through earlier programmes, including the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), and prepares students for success in higher education, future careers and lifelong learning. Through six subject groups and the DP core—Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)—students develop academic depth, independence and a well-rounded outlook.

The Diploma Programme :

Addresses holistically students’ intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being
Develops the knowledge, skills and attitudes students need to manage complexity, think critically and take responsible action for the future.
Ensures breadth and depth of understanding through the study of six subject groups, with subjects studied at Higher Level and Standard Level.
Encourages the study of at least two languages to strengthen communication skills and promote intercultural understanding and international-mindedness.
Develops independent learning and research skills through the DP core: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS).
Empowers students to participate in creative pursuits, physical activity and meaningful service within their communities through CAS.
Prepares students for success in university, employment and a lifetime of active, responsible and reflective learning.
